Sloten

Sloten, or ‘Sleat’ as the Frisian people call it, is the smallest city of the famous eleven ice skating cities of Friesland, one of the most northern provinces in the Netherlands. Every winter the Dutch people hope for long lasting freezing temperatures so that the tour of all ice skating tours can be held, the tour of the eleven Frisian cities. Unfortunately the weather hasn’t allowed it since 1997. I took this shot last saturday when I was sailing the Frisian waters and needed groceries.

my mother is from the netherlands and believe me, when you talk about ice skating on canals and show us this beautiful landscape, i believe one day i’ll go there to rest some times in peace…

Exactly, you should breathe the fresh Dutch air and enjoy the ground of your roots! ;)

Love this, seems like a shot of Madurodam, but its real! Nice! Seems like the river is not exactly in the middle but it can be an illusion.
PS: I am not a big fan of ice skating, but i like sailing on a boat very much!

Very nice photo, it is very picturesque and tranquil looking. It looks like a very nice, peaceful, quiet town. I think the colors really help pull this photo together and make it work.
